Linac Accelerator
Hitachi acquired ACCSYS Technology. Inc which produces the Linac Accelerator "PULSAR". The PULSAR product line is the reliable, low cost solution to the growing need for positron radiotracers and represents the next generation of positron radiotracer equipment. It incorporates the latest patented compact rf ion linac technology integrated with high production yield targets and advanced chemistry units. The PULSAR is available in 7Mev and 11 Mev with multiple targets and multi beams simultaneously.
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
PET is a molecular imaging technique that demonstrates function, or metabolism, at the cellular level. Using radiotracers prepared from radioisotopes that are produced by a medical cyclotron, typically Carbon 11, Oxygen 15, Nitrogen 13 and Fluorine 18. PET is used ton helping physicians manage their patients in the areas of oncology, neurology and cardiology. Hitachi undertakes total PET/CT systems.
Proton Beam Therapy Systems (PBT)
Proton Beam Therapy is a form of external beam radiation therapy which uses protons rather than photons (X–rays). The positive charge and large mass of the proton makes it easier to control its placement within the patient. Energized protons slow down as they pass through tissue displaying minimal lateral scatter and depositing most of their energy at the end of their path. Through this sophicated software algorithms, the penetration depth and shape of the protons are three dimensionally controlled to fit precisely with a tumor target.
